Walnut and birch shell combination

The Starclassic Walnut/Birch uses a combination of walnut and birch for its shells, giving you the defining construction behind this shell pack. Its three-piece configuration keeps things compact, with a 22"x14" bass drum joined by a 12"x8" rack tom and 16"x16" floor tom. This gives you a focused setup with a useful spread of drum sizes without adding unnecessary pieces. Whether you're building around a smaller footprint or simply prefer a streamlined kit, the configuration gives you the essential foundations for your setup while retaining the Walnut/Birch shell design.

Let your tom resonate freely

Tama's Star-Cast mounting system is designed to support the rack tom while allowing the shell to resonate freely. That means the mounting hardware has been considered as part of the drum's overall performance rather than simply as a way to hold it in position. The included MTH1000S single tom holder gives the 12"x8" tom its dedicated mounting point, while the Swivel-Wing design adds another practical element to the setup. Together, these features help you position the rack tom around your preferred playing layout while maintaining the benefits of the Star-Cast system.

Quicker tom setup and adjustment

Quick-Lock tom brackets are built to make everyday setup more convenient. They provide a straightforward way to work with your tom hardware, useful when you're regularly assembling and packing down your kit. This shell pack also includes air-cushioned floor tom legs for the 16"x16" floor tom, adding another considered detail to the support system. Combined with the Star-Cast mounting system and Swivel-Wing tom holder, these features give you practical control over how your toms are positioned and supported, helping keep setup manageable for rehearsals, performances, and regular playing.

Practical hardware and heads included

EVANS heads come fitted to the shell pack, giving you established drumhead components as part of the setup. Tama also equips the bass drum with dedicated Starclassic spur brackets and claw hooks, providing the hardware needed around the 22"x14" kick. These details complement the tom mounting and floor tom support systems, creating a three-piece shell pack with its key fittings already accounted for. The Smoked Silver Sparkle finish completes the kit with a silver sparkle appearance, matching the new Starclassic Walnut/Birch finish shown in Tama's September 2026 release information.
